King of Prussia, PA –Nighttime lane closures and brief traffic stoppages will occur next week on Route 202 in East Whiteland Township, Chester County for the placement of bridge beams and related construction activities at the Swedesford Road overpass, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today.
Route 202 will be reduced to a single lane in each direction Monday through Thursday (Nov. 30-Dec. 3) from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning at the overpass, which is located at the southern end of the Route 29 Interchange.
The lane closures will allow crews to complete preparations for lifting and setting the beams in place and for installing protective sheeting to the underside of the beams for the northern half of the new span.
Full traffic stoppages of up to 15 minutes in duration on both northbound and southbound Route 202 also may occur during the nighttime and overnight hours on Tuesday and Wednesday (Dec. 1-2) when the concrete beams are scheduled to be set in place.
Brief flagger-controlled stoppages related to the bridge construction also may occur on Swedesford Road between Route 401 and Route 29 from 7 p.m. each evening until 5 a.m. the following morning.
The contractor’s schedule is weather dependent.
The Swedesford Road Bridge, along with the nearby Route 29 Bridge over Route 202, are two of five structures that PennDOT is replacing to make room for a future improvement of the expressway between North Valley Road in Tredyffrin Township and the Route 30 Bypass Interchange in East Whiteland Township.
PennDOT reminds motorists they can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on Route 202 and other major highways before heading out. |
